ABOUT CENTRE FOR POLICE RESEARCH

EXCELLENCE IN RESEARCH & TRAINING

The C.P.R. has a mandate to promote excellence in Research and Training. Its objective is to invest in research and development, seek and secure appropriate technology for optimum performance keeping in view the importance of human resource development. The Centre has the challenging task of formulating a strategic vision for Maharashtra Police to meet future challenges and build it as a professional service. The C.P.R. undertakes research projects on subjects suggested by the Bureau of Research & Development, New Delhi and the Director General of Police Maharashtra State Mumbai. The C.P.R., has also been assigned the responsibility to train the officers of the Maharashtra Police by the Director General of Police, Maharashtra. In addition to traditional fields, the police personnel are trained in all profession related subjects like Cyber Crime, Economic Offences etc. in various Investigation Modules. Besides investigation skills, training programmes include personal and personality development, leadership and communication.

The C.P.R. also organizes Training for I.P.S. Officers all over India on specialized subjects like Organised Crime and Anti- Terrorism.

Human resource is the most important resource for the police. Training attempts to improve the productivity and quality of this important resource and in turn expect the police personnel serve the Society in a more efficient manner. Reacting to current concerns, issues related to security of women, gender sensitisation, recent legislation and court pronouncements on offences against women have been included in our seminars and workshops.

I am confident that the Centre for Police Research as well as its website would contribute in helping the Police achieve professionalism and serve the society meeting the people’s expectations.
